Eduardo Camavinga set to miss start of LaLiga season due to injury

Real Madrid will have to make do without Eduardo Camavinga for the start of the 2025-26 LaLiga campaign after the midfielder picked up an injury during pre-season training.

Los Blancos begin the season at the Santiago Bernabeu against Osasuna and head coach Xabi Alonso would've been hoping for a fully fit squad to ensure a strong start to the campaign.

However, those plans have been dashed somewhat after Camavinga pulled up hurt with an ankle injury in training.

It is devastating news for a player who is hoping to repay the club's faith in him after Real Madrid decided to back him as a key player despite a difficult year last season.

Camavinga's chance to cement his place in the team presented itself with the appointment of Alonso as head coach because the Spaniard favours a 4-2-3-1 formation that deploys two players in defensive midfield positions in the middle of the park.

This would mean that there is space for both him and Aurelien Tchouameni in the system.

However, it will be a couple of weeks at least before Los Blancos fans see the plan come to full fruition after Camavinga's injury was confirmed by the club.

“After the tests carried out today on our player Eduardo Camavinga by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a sprain in his right ankle. Pending evolution," Real Madrid said in a statement to the media.

Camavinga joins Jude Bellingham on the injury list, with the English star out for at least another two months, leaving Real Madrid a bit short on central midfield players to start the season.
