Korean lawmaker urges action after cyberbullying of LoL MVP Gumayusi
Democratic Party of Korea lawmaker Jeon Yong-gi has condemned ongoing cyberbullying aimed at Lee 'Gumayusi' Min-hyeong.
Gumayusi for T1In a November 20th Facebook post, Jeon called for urgent action from esports bodies, online platforms and government agencies after sustained attacks on the 2025 Worlds MVP.
The assembly member condemned what he described as an organised campaign of harassment from communities including the T1 Supporters Gallery ('T1Gall'). He said the abuse toward Gumayusi had "gone far beyond acceptable limits," continuing even after the player announced his departure from T1.
Jeon questioned whether the behaviour could be considered genuine fandom, arguing it amounted instead to cyberbullying for entertainment and "cyber wrecker–style" attention-seeking.
"Cheering for a team can never justify targeting a player for abuse," he said, rejecting claims the harassment was simply tough criticism.
The lawmaker proposed a three-pronged response involving esports regulators, platform operators and government legislation. He urged KeSPA, Riot Games Korea and individual organisations to stop "remaining on the sidelines" and implement stronger protections for players, warning that younger talent is especially vulnerable to online attacks.
