Report: Viktor Gyokeres closer to Arsenal move as Gunners snag young star Will Wright
Arsenal are on the verge of securing Sporting CP's prolific striker Viktor Gyokeres, with negotiations nearing completion, while the Gunners have also outmaneuvered Liverpool to sign Salford City's teenager Will Wright.

The 27-year-old Gyokeres has been Arsenal's top target to lead their attack, having scored an astonishing 54 goals in 52 matches for Sporting last season, including a hat-trick against Manchester City in the Champions League.
His lethal finishing and relentless running have made him one of Europe's most coveted forwards, and Arsenal believe he can thrive in the Premier League alongside playmakers like Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed that Arsenal and Sporting have agreed on a base fee of 63.5 million euros, with an additional 10 million euros in performance-related add-ons.
However, discussions over the structure of those add-ons have caused a slight delay. "The conversation is still ongoing," Romano said on Thursday. "The agents are in London to resolve the agreement between all parties. On the player side, everything is okay—a five-year contract. Gyokeres is fighting to go to Arsenal, but it's really important to agree on the add-ons."
Romano also noted Arsenal's frustration with Sporting's tough negotiating stance. "Arsenal are not happy with Sporting, who keep fighting on every single detail," he said. Despite this, Gyokeres' determination to join the Gunners remains unwavering. He rejected lucrative offers from Saudi clubs Al Qadsiah and Al Hilal, focusing solely on a move to the Emirates.
Romano confirmed on X, "Gyokeres didn't have doubts even when Saudi clubs offered a way higher salary: only Arsenal."
A clear sign of Gyokeres' intent came via CNN Portugal, which reported removal vans clearing out his home in Portugal, signaling his readiness to relocate. Sporting's president, Frederico Varandas, acknowledged the situation but remained firm, stating, "If they don't want to pay Viktor's fair market value, we're very comfortable with that for the next three years."
Meanwhile, Arsenal have pulled off a coup by securing 17-year-old striker Will Wright from Salford City, beating Liverpool in the race for his signature. The Reds had been in advanced talks, but Arsenal's 500,000-pound offer, including add-ons, proved decisive.
Romano confirmed the deal on X, stating, "Arsenal have agreed deal to sign 17 year old talented striker Will Wright, documents being prepared. Arsenal won the race despite interest from several clubs."
Wright, a highly rated prospect, represents a long-term investment for Arsenal, who are building for both the present and future. With Gyokeres poised to bolster their immediate attacking options and Wright joining their youth ranks, the Gunners are making bold moves to close the gap on Premier League rivals.
As Romano noted, "Talks are underway in London to get the final green light and seal the (Gyokeres) move," with an announcement expected soon.
