Virtus.pro has announced a significant addition to its Dota 2 roster, signing Jonas 'SaberLight' Volek, formerly of Team Liquid.

The move comes after SaberLight was released by Team Liquid on 22 September 2025, having been relegated to the bench.

SaberLight's tenure with Team Liquid, which began on 27 September 2024, was marked by notable successes. He played a key role in the team's triumphs at PGL Wallachia Season 3 and Season 4 in 2025, earning 300,000 USD for each victory.

Additionally, he helped Team Liquid secure third place in PGL Wallachia Season 6, where they were narrowly defeated by MOUZ.

However, major international tournaments proved more challenging, with the team finishing eighth at the 2025 Esports World Cup and 12th at The Internationals 2025.

Virtus.pro, meanwhile, has struggled throughout 2025, a sharp contrast to its Major-winning peaks in 2018 and 2019. The team placed 16th at the 2025 Esports World Cup and failed to qualify for The Internationals, being eliminated in the Western Europe Closed Qualifier.

The acquisition of SaberLight is expected to provide a boost as Virtus.pro looks to reverse this downward trajectory.

The revamped roster will debut at DreamLeague Season 27, set to begin on 10 December 2025. Fans will be particularly keen to see whether SaberLight will face his former squad, Team Liquid, in upcoming matches.

Virtus.pro management has expressed optimism that SaberLight's experience and proven track record in high-stakes tournaments will strengthen the team and help restore its competitive edge in the international Dota 2 scene.
