Further details revealed for 2025 LoL World Championship
Riot Games has unveiled more details about the 2025 League of Legends World Championship starting this month.
league-of-legends-players16The 2025 League of Legends World Championship kicks off on 14 October 14 in Beijing and wraps up on 9 November in Chengdu, spotlighting squads from each of the game's five key regions.
Kicking things off is a high-stakes best-of-five Play-In clash between South Korea's T1 and China's Invictus Gaming. The victor advances to the Swiss Stage, while the defeated side bows out early. Riot Games highlighted the event's motto, "Earn Your Legacy," driving home the message that true Worlds dominance is forged through effort, not entitlement.
From 15 to 25 October, the Swiss Stage unfolds with 16 competing teams, spotlighting Korean powerhouses like Gen.G, Hanwha Life Esports, kt Rolster, and T1. The LCK from Korea is gunning for a fourth straight Worlds crown after triumphs in 2022, 2023, and 2024, which would elevate their tally to 10 - the first region to hit that milestone with nine already under their belt.
China fields a strong contingent with Bilibili Gaming, Anyone's Legend, Top Esports, and Invictus Gaming. The EMEA region counters with G2 Esports, Movistar KOI, and Fnatic, while North and South America's hopes rest on FlyQuest, VIVO Keyd Stars, and 100 Thieves. APAC completes the field via CTBC Flying Oyster, Team Secret Whales, and PSG Talon. Action then shifts to the Knockout Stage at Shanghai's iconic Mercedes-Benz Arena from 28 October through 2 November, culminating in the Grand Finals at Chengdu's Dong'an Lake Sports Park Gymnasium on 9 November.
Headlining the cosmetic drops is the tournament's marquee skin, "Kinkou Xin Zhao," weaving esports triumphs into the game's evolving lore while boosting revenue streams. Fans can also grab prestige chromas saluting legendary past winners, plus value-packed bundles spotlighting Finals MVPs. Rounding out the festivities, a 15th-anniversary merch line inspired by the "Twilight's Trial" saga hits shelves on 13 October.
